Nurit Stadler teaches in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the Hebrew University. Her areas of expertise are sociology and anthropology of religion, micro-macro relations in social theory and questions about the sacred with relations to politics, rituals of the circle of life, art and iconography. In recent years Stadler has participated in projects examining the combination of ethnographic methods with research methods in architecture, art, and photography while dealing with questions of religion and urbanism, sacredness and nature, digital iconography and ritual relations with the material culture. Stadler is the author of Yeshiva Fundamentalism: Piety, Gender and Resistance in the Ultra-Orthodox World published with New York University Press (2008); A Well-Worn Tallis for a New Ceremony (2012) with Academic Studies Press (Brighton, MA) Voices of the Ritual with Oxford University Press (2020).
